Dear VUCA people!!

VUCA ?!! Yes,You are VUCA people.

What is VUCA?

When you are facing multiple problems consequently,you can’t able to recognize the origin of the problem,not able to analyse it,no clue about the consequences &  no Predictability.

That change,unclearness & confusion is VUCA!!

Each letter describes a word & each word has its own meaning which is more or less related.

VOLATILITY

UNCERTAINITY

COMPLEXITY

AMBIGUITY

History:

VUCA acronym first used in 1987,drawing on the leadership theories to describe or to reflect the Volatility,Uncertainity,Complexity,Ambiguity of general conditions & situations.

But later 2002 onwards,VUCA  has put his start in forming strategies in Leadership in an Organisation.

We are in VUCA world,VUCA organisation,VUCA situations!!

VUCA organisation needs VUCA leaders.

Visionary Understandable Challenging leaders in Action!!

Let me explain!!

VOLATILITY:-  Liability to change rapidly & unpredictably especially for the worse.

UNCERTAINTY:- State of being uncertain or Unreliability.

COMPLEXITY:-  The state or quality of being complicated or factor involved in complicated situation.

AMBIGUITY:- Inexactness or quality of being open to more than one Interpretation.

Just think about it, all are in one situation.

How to tackle it?!!

Each person should possess leadership qualities. A Leader can manage any situation in fruitful manner.

For this VUCA,I have mentioned the same acronym VUCA for handling the situation.

Visionary Understandable Leaders in Action.

VISION:- Have a clear vision. Create strategies to increase Organizational Resilience by adapting the change,before the change becomes a requirement!

Volatatlity!!

UNDERSTANDABLE:- Understanding the situation  by gathering information. So documentation is a vital part for any organisation to survive.

 DATAs! Through data only,you can gather quality information of an organisation which is needed for Analysis,Study & Research.Data helps you to make better informed decisions.

Uncertainity!!

CHALLENGES:-  Something that needs a great mental & physical effort in order to be done worthwhile. So,

Builds Resilience!!Facing the complexity by consistent & commitment.

Complexity!!

ACTION:- Agility & approach with Hypothesis!

Action should be fast & sharp.

PDCA cycle!!         

Also known as Deming circle,The Shewart cycle or the Control cycle.

It is the four step business method for the control and continuous improvement of the process.

Plan–>Do–>  Check–>  Act

  • Identify your Problems {Plan}
  • Test Potential solutions {Do}
  • Analyse the Results {Check}
  • Implement the best solution {Act}

In short, you have to Create a strategical Vision to Understand the uncertainity & Challenge the situation by Agile Action!!

That’s why VUCA needs VUCA leaders i.e Visionary Understandable Challenging leaders in Action!!

VUCA leaders can navigate VUCA storms,thoughtfully,skilfully,powerfully in a successful manner & can able to THRIVE in this VUCA world.

Have you remember your childhood science chapter,DARWINIAN EVOLUTIONARY THEORY!!??

Best adjustable to their Environment are the most successful in surviving & Reproducing!!
