Anxiety  is both your Friend & Enemy?!! Interesting?

What is Anxiety?

A feeling of worry, Nervousness or Unease about something that Uncertain outcome and a strong desire or concern to do something or for something to happen. It is a body reaction to a challenge or demand, so it is both your friend and Enemy. Every Human being should aware about this ANXIETY & ANXIETY DISORDER. Hope the following session will make you understand in easy manner.

Anxiety as a FRIEND:

It accompanies your intellectual activity as its shadow. How? By Motivating you to plan your approach to a challenge.

Let me tell with few examples…

  • When you get ready for your Exams….

i.e SHADOW OF INTELLIGENCE!!

In 1949,psychologist Howard Liddell mentioned Anxiety as Shadow of Intelligence.

Tips to Overcome:

Rule 3-3-3:

When you feel anxious or stressed, Look around you, name 3 things you see, 3 things you hear and move 3 parts of your body {Ankle,Hand & Arm}. Just try, it works miraculously. I personally got benefitted by this rule.

S.T.O.P Method:

S- Stop or Pause the moment

T – Take a Deep breath

O- Observe. Notice inside you and Outside you {What and How you feel, What are you doing-your actions}

P– Proceed now.

These will make you to overcome from your Anxiousness.

5 Major types of Anxiety Disorder:

General Anxiety Disorder: Chronic Anxiety, exaggerated worry or tension, even when there is little or nothing to provoke it.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder {OCD}: Recurrent unwanted thoughts{Obsession} or repetitive behaviors {Compulsion}. Eg. Frequent hand washing

Panic Disorder: Unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear accompanied with physical symptoms like Chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder {PTSD}: developed after exposure to terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred as threatened Eg: Disasters, accidents.

Social Phobia: Overwhelming Anxiety and excessive self consciousness in everyday social situations.

Health Affects:

  • Phobias and Depression
  • Deranges immune system and you become more vulnerable to infection.
