Industrious Rubric in Homoeopathy

In my previous article on the Fastidious rubric in Homoeopathy, I mentioned that I had lots of confusion about the fastidious and Industrious rubrics in my initial days of practice. Here are my learnings and I have successfully applied them to many of my cases while giving constitutional medicine.

Industrious Meaning:

Hardworking & Perseverance
Steadfastly active in their business
Diligent, puts all his effort into fulfilling their decided purpose.

Industrious Rubric in Homoeopathy:

There are many drugs listed in this rubric, but 3 marks go to Tarentula and Aurum. Other remedies are Lachesis, Sepia, Coffea, and Baryta carb, etc… Let’s see some differentiating pointers.

Aurum met:

Industrious nature develops as a reaction to Parental pressure, the same as how carcinosin develops their fastidiousness. To have a prestigious position in society and to become professionally strong, they often become workaholics.

They are highly ambitious to seduce and influence society. Wealth is their goal, and that’s why they become ambitious to compensate for their lack of worth. This is the differentiating point between Nuxvomica’s ambitious nature. Nux is open, gregarious, full of confidence and there is no self-doubt.

But for Aurum, it is their lifelong aim and struggle to be seen as successful in society. That’s why, if they lose their materialistic wealth, they feel their self-respect lost and from there they go into a depressive state. Suicidal thoughts are predominant!!

Aurums have good analytical skills and strong intellect. They used to have a single focus and work hard to attain it at any cost and never be distracted in this journey. Because of this attitude, they become a torture to their employees.

Tarentula:

Their Modus operandi is deceitful, selfish, cunning like a fox, mischievous, destructive, and self-centered. This selfish nature makes them work hard for what they want. If they decide on something, they just make it happen by working hard, and that is why they come under the rubric of industriousness.

The differentiating point from other remedies is that tarentula lacks a sense of morality. They threaten others emotionally, physically, and financially to get what they want. Threatening may extend to injure others.

It reflects outside in their behaviors through their threatening gestures and speech, rough and abrupt words.

Tarentula people are both physically and mentally restless which is better by music.

I feel the antagonist Varma character in Jailor movie {Tamil} looks like Tarentula. Ambitious, destructive, self-centered, workaholics, and better by music.

Coffea cruda:

One of the best remedies used for today’s lifestyle diseases Insomnia and Hypertension happens as a result of stress from hard work. They are simple, sharp, have good memory, sensitive, witty, cheerful people.

They are very kind, caring, and charitable. They have clear thoughts, plans, and opinions. Responsible people. Their hard work nature is usually associated with mental hyperactivity.

Sepia:

Industrious, career-oriented modern women.

Sepia has two sides,

One aspect, if she has conflicts with her relationships, she diverts her mind through some physical activities like cleaning utensils or doing some household chores.

Another facet is, Career-oriented women, get rid of the old traditional role of household work and become indifferent to domestic work.

In general, when the mind is not diverted by occupation, sepia tends to think about her problems and complaints.

Lachesis:

Busy, industrious, but less responsible.

Lachesis people are cheerful, witty, fun-loving, and vivacious people. Their hardworking activities are not to fulfill their responsibilities but to fulfill their imaginations, plans, and fancies.

Since it is from a poisonous snake, Lachesis people could often be immoral and dishonest. Jealousy and malicious nature motivated them to work harder to attain their goals. They can cheat and be deceitful to their partners or colleagues to get the business.

Baryta carb:

They are also hardworking, busy people but without foresight. We can see this kind of Baryta carb in self-employed people. Bookish people become industrious but not effective because of their slow-grasping nature.

These are the industrious nature of some remedies. Dr.Shah includes Drosera and stannum metallicum here.

Drosera is a successful executive, obstinate in executing their plans. Persistence shows in their work.

Stannum met is busy but fruitless. They are not productive, and thats why they face failure in business.

Bryonia is not primarily devoted to duty but becomes industrious because of inner anxiety and insecurities. They have a strong fear of poverty and fear of the future and that makes them anxious. Suited to “Insecure Businessmen”, always with files even during their vacation.
