Self-acceptance is directly connected with your well-being, Mental & Emotional Health and Self-esteem. It is one of the components of Emotional intelligence and an important leadership quality.

What is Self-acceptance?

Self-acceptance is the complete acceptance of oneself. It is not an automatic or default state, it is the act of understanding and recognizing one’s own strengths and abilities, weakness and limitations without any judgment and feeling of satisfaction regardless of deficiencies and past behaviors.

Self-acceptance compromises two important things.

  • Self-regard
  • Accepting the imperfections {False imperfections & Imperfection of own}

What is Self-regard?

Appreciating yourself as a person by knowing your strengths and weakness. For that Self-awareness is crucial.

Here you need to think about 2 important things, false imperfections and imperfections of own.

False imperfections means something our society labeled it as “Imperfect”. The best examples are fat and dark complexion. People who are fat and dark color always strive to become slim and fair. For that they used to undergo many difficult treatments which are not acceptable as healthiest one. Remember,its all a part of nature. When you are healthy, you should embrace yourself.

Imperfections of Own means your weakness, your shadow part, something you need to look inside and understand that your values are separate from your action and qualities.

What is Shadow? Why people do blame others?

Many people think that knowing their weakness and accepting it is Self-acceptance. It is not !!

Self-acceptance is exploring the weakness in a right way, understand it, accept it and Change it for better.

Let me tell one example,

If you get Angry for certain matter in a context, you think that your weakness is Anger. Apparently yes, but in reality, it is not.. How?

Just ask yourself why you got angry? Either it is due to intolerance or Jealousy or your expectations not meet or etc…

When you start exploring and understanding the reality, you can able to change it for better.

What is the core of Love? It is the unconditional acceptance of self and others. When the leader is fully accepting herself or himself, She or he can able to establish the environment of mutual acceptance where ideas are shared without any judgment, with tolerance and genuinely inclusive.
