Psoriasis – Healed through Homoeopathy

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease in which skin cells multiplies at the rate of higher than normal. The body doesn’t shed these excess skin cells and so there is an excessive accumulation which forms lesions.

This skin disease is not contagious though and presents as thickened silvery white scaling and reddening of patches of the skin especially over the extensor surfaces and scalp. The degree and severity vary from person to person.

Hereditary and Environmental factors play important roles in etiology and pathogenesis. Psoriasis is difficult to treat, since Homoeopathy treats the patient as a whole, there is a good scope in Homeopathy to treat Psoriasis.

42 42-year-old male came to me with complaints of Blackish scaly eruption in his left leg for the past 4 months. He had taken internal Allopathic medicine on & off. Since Allopathic ointment didn’t soothe him, he applied coconut oil to that lesion.

Presenting Complaints:

C/ O Itching Blackish scaly eruption on left foreleg since 4 months. Small rashes with itching over the left ring finger, little finger, left thumb, right ring finger, and behind the right ear. When itching, if he scratches the lesion, there will be a burning pain which is better with warm water.

C/O Itching inside the groin without rashes since one month, which is usually in the morning.

C/O Some disturbances {not pain} in both Ankle joints, better by exercise and movement.

L/E: Eruption at left foreleg, Blackish discoloration+, Dryness+, Scaly+

Other mentioned areas of itching show dryness alone.

Physical Generals:

Appetite: Normal. But always missing his Breakfast, eating heavy food at night time
Thirst: Normal
Sweat: Normal, while exertion or hot weather, all over the body.
Sleep: Good. Snoring+
Urine: Normal, 4 to6 times /day varies based on season and water intake
Stools: Once a day. But if he takes spicy food, the next day he had a tired feeling and feels some pain over the anus while passing stools.
Desires: Not specific. But he likes eggs and sweets.
No intolerance
He always likes and feels better during the summer season.
Not a Smoker
Weekly once Alcohol – Beer/ Wine

Past & Surgical History:

1996- Rhinoplasty after a traumatic accident
2004- Alopecia Areata healed through? Homeopathy
2016-Bladder Stone- Ureterolithotripsy
2021-Vitamin D deficiency took Vitamin D supplement for 3 months
H/O Gout complaints 4 years before, took allopathic treatment.

Family History:

Father: DM/ HT
Mother: DM/ BA

Corona Vaccination is done as per dose.

Mental Generals:

Prefer Perfectionism in everything. Punctual in time. He said that he always gets anxious if he suffered from any complaints and immediately consults Doctor and undergo all investigations. Fear of disease marked.

Always thinking about the future, whether it is safe or not. Wants to settle hisfamily.

Gets Angry if things do not go well. Give importance to external look, and dress well.

His wife narrated that he wants everything perfect, if it is supposed to be at 8 Am, he will be at. He gets angry when there is no cleanliness. Too much of Perfectionism. Though he is perfect but always anxious about his future and health.

Based on this totality, Heat amelioration, Blackish discoloration, Anxiety about the future, perfectionism & alcohol, I prescribed, Arsenicum Album 200, 3 doses, followed by a placebo for 15 days.

Follow up:

After 15 days, he visited with a new lesion on the left lower limb without any improvement. Additionally, he informed me that after taking medicine, for the first 3 days, he was having pain while passing stools.

The itching over the groin is more in the morning, though better after bathing with warm water, he said that his complaints is increasing day by day.

So I confirmed that what I prescribed was wrong. Gave Sulphur 200, in three doses.

After 15 days, He informed me that itching over the groin had reduced to 40%, having back pain a new complaint which is aggravated while standing and in the morning. Continued with placebo for another 15 days.

During the next visit, he said, “Complaints remain the same with no improvement. I am a bit anxious about the lesions, my hand skin is thickened. Though itching over the groin is reduced to a few percent it is not completely clear. Nowadays I become very angry, even last week I scolded my wife since the house is not clean”

I asked him, “Tell me about yourself in detail. What do you like? What do you want? What do you do when you get angry? How do you feel when things are not going according to your will? If you tell me in detail only, I can help you. We never treat diseases, we treat persons who are having diseases.

His answers,

I want to get promoted but I am not having enough confidence, probably due to poor communication skills. If I want to learn something, I always procrastinate. I am very adamant, especially if people insult me, I just cut down the relationship. I am very much irritated when things are not going according to my wishes. Being a manager, irritation is always with me because of my job.

I questioned him, “How do you express your Anger?”

He,” Shouting people, nowadays I am shouting at my wife. Always quarreling”

I interrupted, “If things are not going well according to your wish or perfect, will you question your superior?”

He answered,” No, I never question my superiors. I am usually very soft-spoken to them, I shout only the people who are under my management and my wife”

This prejudiced Homoeopathy mind immediately thinks of Lycopodium and gets support through his physical symptoms from right to left, desires for sweets, warm things better, and prescribed the same. Lycopodium 200, 3 doses followed by placebo for one month.

After 1 month, to my shock, all his complaints are aggravated, Skin lesions are extended, and Ankle joint disturbances are predominated.

When I asked about his childhood days, there was a smile on his face, and informed me,” usual farmer family. I am the one who was educated by my family. I was living with my paternal uncle and studying. I took all responsibilities and put in hard work to attain this level in this society. During those days, I loved gardening, I planted many trees and plants in my home.”

I am afraid about the future, what will happen? Though secured a job, and planned everything for my child, but a kind of fear.

Ok, do you elaborate on any recent incident that makes you angry professionally?

I informed the concerned person to arrange food for my team since they were continuing their duty at night. The reason for preplanning is the weather. If rain comes, it is difficult to arrange food in that particular working area. When I reached there, as usual, they forgot to arrange it, my team didn’t get proper food. I can’t stand that, even though, I informed them, they didn’t arrange it. Because of their carelessness, people who are working are suffering. I felt very bad and irritated and shouted at them. {Conscience}

Do you love animals?

Not specifically, even I don’t like cats. But I have a fish tank in my home. I love to look over that.

Do you have a special interest in anything apart from gardening?

Recently I have joined a Violin class and go skating.

15 days later, he came to me with complaints of high-grade fever with severe body pain. Treated with Bryonia and got recovered.

I was happy because the medicine was correct!! After the administration of constitutional medicine, if any infectious disease comes after long years, it means Medicine started working.

He started healing, all his complaints were reduced with significant changes in his anger issues also. After 2 months of administration of Carcinosin 200, a few remnants are in the leg with an additional note of itching inside the groin increased for the past 4 days. Placebo given. Again after a week, he came with the same complaints, so Carcinosin 1M was prescribed.
